Sermon Series
| | 2012 is a year of pursuing vision for both our church and our individual lives. How can we have specific visions for our businesses, but not for our homes? That's a question we tackle as we enter 2012. Also, in this series we discuss the three-pronged vision God has given Orlando North Community Church for the upcoming year:
1. Influence in Families 2. Involvement in Missions 3. Inspiration in House Churches |
| | Life is tolerable when at least there’s a glimmer of hope to cling to, but when hope is absent, life becomes brutal, empty and dark. Even those things which represented joy and happiness in our childhood, such as Christmas, now are consumed by hopelessness. The mystical peace behind the Christmas season has been replaced by the anxiety of how will I survive.
But, what if your hope could be restored? What if Christmas 2011 became a breath of fresh air?
Jesus is the answer to all hopelessness. Not only does he provide hope, but he is hope. |
| | One of four very personal letters that Paul writes is the letter to the church in Philippi. It's a beautiful letter that expresses that God can be trusted. Join us as we walk verse-by-verse through the story Paul tells. |
| | A letter that is often overlooked in the New Testament is the one from the Apostle Paul to his dear friend, Philemon. This twenty-five-verse book is loaded with insight into God's sovereignty and His plan for our relationships. Journey with us on August 14th, 21st, and 28th, as we dig through this beautiful letter. |
| | Blessed are those who...mourn, are poor in spirit, hungry? Really? Jesus couldn't paint a bigger paradox than he does when he's talking to a large group of people on a mountain one day. When we hear these words we don't think blessed, we think cursed. But these words were not loosely spoken. They were spoken to demonstrate to his followers that a life spent following him would be one of purpose and intentionality, not simply comfort.
Comfort is easy to find, purpose is more rewarding. |
| | Join us as we discover God's plan for the family in the series, 'Family Redefined'. We'll look at the three major influences in a person's life - experiences, choices, and relationships - and how the family helps shape them. |
| | I am Second is a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others. Actors. Athletes. Musicians. Business leaders. Drug addicts. Your next-door neighbor. People like you. |
| | So much of what we do is toxic for us physically, spiritually, and emotionally. In 'Toxic' we'll reveal how much destruction can be achieved with toxic thoughts, toxic relationships, toxic influences, toxic words, and toxic relationships. |
| | In Advent we celebrate the arrival of the Messiah as He came to earth in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago, and we also look forward to His second coming when He will return to take us to our eternal destination with Him in heaven. In Advent \'10 we will unwrap the gift Jesus left us, the Holy Spirit, when His ministry was complete on earth. Each week will build as we celebrate the Messiah and this special time of the year. |
| | We live with a one-dimensional view of life and often ignore the truth that we were created as spiritual beings. The term ‘spirituality’ can lead us to confusion. Does spirituality look like Casper the Friendly Ghost or more like a Wes Craven horror film? There’s a realm of spirituality that is not only ignored, but entirely undervalued even in the church, and that’s the role of the Holy Spirit in a follower of Christ’s life. Join us on Halloween day, October 31st, as we begin our endeavour to discover who the Holy Spirit is. We’d like to encourage you to invite friends and family on this special day as this is a topic most are intrigued by. A free lunch will be served immediately following service. |
| | So much of what people think about God, spirituality and the Christian faith is based on what we want to believe rather than what is actually true. Join us as we uncover the truth behind many of the most often misguided thoughts about God, spirituality and Christian faith. |
| | Moral deism begins when we try to earn our relationship with God by doing stuff and following that we 'add' a little bit of Jesus. Jesus was never intended to be a condiment to our lives. In 'The Gospel' we're going to look at how the cross and resurrection are to serve as the centerpiece and not an addition to the Christian's life. Join us this Summer as we walk through the first four chapters of Romans and discover the true power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus. |
| | Ever wonder what the characters of the crucifixion story were thinking as they physically watched Jesus go through the torture and pain of the cross? In ‘Vantage Point’ we’re going to take a look at just that. How did the Father feel seeing His eternal Son being tortured by the ones He Himself created? What about Pilate? A man who was in quite a quandary as he had to take a stance for God or take a stance for Rome. In this series we’ll examine these characters and many more to bring to life what the cross ultimately meant for us.
- April 4: The Father’s View of the Cross - April 11: Worship - April 18: Thief’s View of the Cross - April 25: Pilate’s View of the Cross - May 2: High Priest’s View of the Cross - May 9: Mary’s View of the Cross - May 16: Jesus' View of the Cross |
